Network

[link to this post]

Hi you all, I have an existing netgear wireless set up that works fine, I am trying to set up my kids computer via a lead, ethernet cable, it used to work fine.
it comes out on my connections as a lan or high speed, the same as the wireless connection.

now, every time the kids computer is on, I lose the internet connection, I have to disable the kids computer.
I have used network wizzard to no avail. I am at a loss ,

any help please

when you say "lose the interent connection" are you saying that the router loses its connection to the exchange (DSL light goes off for example) or that you just can't get to web pages etc.

The former would suggest interference from the kids PC killing the broadband, the latter perhaps a clash of IP addresses.

If you look at the router web interface on 192.168.0.1 from the wireless PC you'll see if it has a connection from the speed down the page. Also if you can get to that with the kids PC on then its not an IP addressing problem.
