hmm, I got wpa and now wpa2 to work successfully on mine

Could be. I'm fed up tinkering to be honest but as there's a few other networks nearby I'd be remiss not to keep trying. I'll see if the drivers and PC updates are playing nice.

Now bought a Wii which supports WPA-PSK TKIP right out of the box. It still won't connect unless I use WEP.

Grrrr.

how many characters are you using?

max is 63.

I've tried alphanumerics, from 8 to 63 characters and nothing. Ones like:

a1b2c3d4e5f6

Tr84VdQ9LjRt3BcA5

Stuff like that. Even really easy ones like

bigfatbanana12

But nothing appears to want to work. As soon as WEP goes back on it's happy camper time. Router problem maybe? I can't believe the Wii is faulty too.

ok, sorry to sound basic but do you change the encryption key on the router using a pc that's wired to it then apply the new wpa key to your wireless laptops?

Yes.

Although, I have tried changing the router key from a wireless machine, then when that's done obviously I lose contact with the router. I then change the key on that machine to match the one now on the router, but nothing, it does not sync up.

I must be missing something fundamentally important?
