Amateur Radio Vs Wireless Network

Hi all

I have just got my dad a laptop and he is about to get cable broadband, which i will then make wireless for him. My only concern is that he is a Amateur Radio user and I was wondering will the 2 signals conflict with each other

A Wireless Router uses a frequency of 2.2GHz. Most Radio Amateurs will use HFfrequencies between 1.8MHz and 30MHz or VHF/UHF 50, 70, 144 or 432MHz.

As these frequencies are well below that used for the Router, I doubt there will be a problem.

If there is, a filter at his Transmitter (a coaxial-stub, he'll know what this is) will kill off any harmonics.

Radio transmission is like sex; it's not the frequency that counts, it's the penetration that can be achieved.

you need to be aware that RF from amateur radio can introduce noise on a adsl broadband line and thus if hes on max it will reduce the speed due to a noisy line !

40m kills my BT Max broadband and is just one of those things ! i have spent hours with filters / ferrite rings earth stakes until i was blue in the face and move everything away from each other to no avail.
