Netgear-Port Forwarding to different internal port

I hope someone can help me here:

I have a Netgear DG834GT and have recently got a Buffalo Linkstation Live which includes a web interface for viewing/streaming files.

I originally set this up to use UPnP to automatically configure a port number to use, but thanks to my companies IT crackdown only http/s ports 80/443 are open for me to use when at work, which kind of defeats me.

I was hoping that I could configure my DG834GT to accept requests on port 80 from the Internet, and forward them on to the fixed internal IP of my NAS drive, but to forward the requests to specific port 9000 as necessary to access the NAS's web server.

Currently I can set up the port forward within Firewall Rules > Inbound Services to redirect port 80 traffic to the IP address of my NAS drive on the LAN, but this is going to port 80, which will allow anyone to access the admin pages of my NAS drive!

Am I missing something obvious, or is this not possible. Alternatively, can I get UPnP to fix the external port to port 80?

IIRC it's not possible to redirect traffic to a different port (i.e. incoming on port 80 of your WAN IP, and routed to port 9000 of your NAS LAN IP).
Unless it's possible using the CLI / Telnet.

This is a shame for you, as it's easily possible with other routers (e.g. the Speedtouch 546).

can do this no problem with my voyager 210 (which is a [censored] router)

After a bit of googling I think that by telneting into the router, I can use the iptables command to do this - even though the web interface doesnt have a page to do this - at the end of the day the router is just running linux!

I am "10 years rusty on unix", so was hoping that someone could assist with the syntax of the iptables command required.

Assuming that my Internet static IP was: 111:222:333:444

I guess that the command would need to go from 111:222:333:444:80 to 192.168.0.102:9000
and then does there also need to be another going back out from:
192.168.0.102:9000 to 111:222:333:444:80

Unfortunately I can't help you, as my Netgear router is out on loan.
Of course, there's many others on here that do have a Netgear, so I'm sure someone will be along, with the answer, in a while.
