connecting 2 modem/routers wirelessly

[link to this post]

I have a netgear dg834gt connecting me to the internet. I now want to connect an XBOX360 wirelessly to the netgear. Instead of buying anything else I'm trying to use another wireless modem/router I have (billion 7402vgp) as an access point.
The 2 routers just don't seem to see each other. The netgear is 192.168.0.1 with DHCP on
The billion is 192.168.0.254 with dhcp off (connected device has set IP). Both have security settings off (for testing).

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers.

are you using the Billion to provide a signal that the Xbox will receive, or are you trying to use it as a client to connect to the Xbox with a wire and provide a wireless link to the Netgear ?

short answer - forget it.

long answer - to do what you want requires the Billion to either have a client mode or act as a WDS repeater to the Netgear. The latter would also require the Netgear to a) support WDS and b) be compatible with the Billion's chipset and capable of achieving a WDS link with it. I don't think a) applies.

You could use these to make a wired link over your mains wiring.

FYI

http://kbserver.netgear.com/release_notes/d103123.asp

Added support (DG834Gv3) for Wireless Distribution System (WDS) under the Advanced menu. WDS allows a wireless network to be expanded using access points without needing a wired backbone to connect them.

cool, thanks for that. Seen any specific devices running WDS in connection with the Netgear ?

Will have to look at that. The Billion has WDS already.
Not sure which version of router SKY send out though but thanks for this.

Cheers.
