Belkin F5D7630-4A

hi someone gave me this belkin adsl modem w/ built-in wireless router(F5D7630-4A) as a gift but my internet connection at home uses this motorola canopy thing and not dsl, i was wondering if i can i use the belkin as wireless router to share my internet connection or should i just sell this and buy a wireless router? thanks!

You can't use Routers with built-in ADSL modem for anything other than ADSL based comms. The reason is that they route between the WAN connection (ADSL Modem) and your LAN.

I am guessing that your wireless Broadband supplier supplies an DCE device that connects directly to your PC. If it uses USB forget it. However if it uses Ethernet then you need a so-called Cable Router. That is to say a router WITHOUT built-in ADSL modem.

yup the rj45 cable goes straight to my pc from the canopy. so this thing is worthless might aswell sell it and buy a wireless router. thanks for the reply!
