My laptop as no IP address or DNS sever..help!!!

I have a hp laptop with a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN, when i try to connect to a secure network all it says is "Acquiring network address". i tried renewing my IP address through command promp and it renewed my Ethernet adapters IP address not my wireless one. In the protolcol TCP/IP properties are set to auto and i dont kno how to mess with all that stuff, can somone please help me!!!!!

Does the secure network you are connecting to use MAC filtering? If so that might be why it can't get an IP address (because the access point won't accept it).

Hi, it is possible your laptop wireless adapter driver is corrupted, or it could be just a configuration fault.

Use ipconfig http://www.vcn.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=360

Use Windows (WZC) Wireless Zero Configuration service to help locate the problem.

Make 100% sure you have entered the correct wireless password/key.

9 out of 10 time i come accross this sort of problem it's down to incorrect password.

Just to add, if you want to check if its a password/key problem, try turning wireless security "off" in the router settings. Then see if you can connect. Obviously then turn security "on" and re try the password.
