TG585 possible to run DHCP server on wifi only?

[link to this post]

I have a Thomson TG585 v7 (Bebox) which I'm using pretty much just as an ADSL modem / router at present, with a separate machine running DNS and DHCP servers. I _could_ run those servers on the TG585 but also need it to be able to serve BOOTP kernel images as well (which I'm pretty sure it can't do).

So...everything is wired at the moment, with most of my various computers using static IP addresses assigned by DHCP (192.168.0.x subnet) but it would be nice to shed the wire from laptops and use them wireless...

Ideally, what I would want to do is use the TG585 as a wireless access point running a DHCP server on something like a 192.168.1.x subnet, and route things nicely between the two internal subnets and also the outside world, as required.

Is such a setup possible with a TG535, i.e. binding the wireless interface to a different subnet from the wired ports and running a DHCP server only on the wireless interface? I've been reading through the (very detailed) documentation but have not managed to work out if this is even possible!

Maybe I should just stick to ignoring the wireless interface!!

why not just use the current wired server to allocate the addreses over wireless, -
ie just replace wire to laptop with wireless, and it should just work.
ggremlin.

It's probably possible but would require wading through the CLI manual. It would probably be easier to get a wireless access point.

If it works wired then it will continue to work in exactly the same way wireless.

Success! I am now using a different wireless card (which may have been part of the problem...) but I now have the TG585 working as a wireless AP with all DHCP still being handled by my other server. It turned out to be a lot simpler than I thought it was going to be, with everything sitting happily on the same subnet.

Cheers,

Laz
