Modem not picking up ADSL2+?

I have a SpeedTouch 580, details below, and for some reason it will not pick up ADSL2+ When my provider switches to ADSL2+ the modem will not connect, switching back to ADSL and all is fine. Any ideas?

Hi.
The 580 does not support 2+ mate.
It does however support ADSL 2(up to 12meg) apparently.
I have one too.
