Poor signal

[link to this post]

Hello I have just bought a new high spec pc and ive had trouble connecting to my wireless internet, eventually connecting but with poor signal.

My signal on my laptop is perfect (in the same room as my new pc) and i just cant figure out why the signal is poor for the pc. Im using a secure WEP connection with a Belkin 150 N+ wireless adaptor.

Can anyone help, feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Ash

Windows XP, Vista? Are new drivers available?

By the way WEP can be hacked quite easily, you would be better off using WPA or WPA2.

If it's USB maybe the power settings allow it to turn off?

I'm not clear which wireless devices you are using (not that it should matter). I take it you have a wireless modem (cable or ADSL) and a wireless dongle plugged in to your PC?

Ok im not so good with this (i need to look this all up sometime),

i have an orange livebox, my wireless belkin router connects to that, and that transmits to my room (where my new pc is),

I have built in wifi (i think) and by briefly looking thats located in the PCI slot?

The Orange Livebox is a wireless router.

Do you have an internal or external aerial? If external try different orientations, if internal you may have to rotate your PC.

Orange told us we needed a password to enable the livebox's wireless ability and my dad has those details (hes away) so we bought the Belkin,

I just bought my new pc today so all i know is that it's built in wifi- do you know a way to look at the status of the wifi or to enhance it?
