problem getting Draytek 120 modem to work

[link to this post]

I have being using BTBroadband for a while with the white rubbish modem/router/wireless.

I have now a netgear 3205 router and a Draytek 120 but it does not work for some reason.

In the write-ups the modem just picks up the network and gets the internet (if the router passes the UID and PWD. I have configured that - I think)

Nevertheless the Internet light never flashes and no result.

I read conflicting statements of PPoE no PPoA, which is it. I am under impression the modem will resolve that as it picks up all UK ISPs except 3 (not mine)

Any ideas?

Hi, try this...

Select Connection Type: PPPoA

VIP:0 <--- (this is a zero)
VCI:38
ATM Encapsulation: VC-Mux

Edited. Looks like there is no configuration required. If no Internet light check out your DSL cable and connections.

I checked the new cable against the old router and no prob. I also plagged the old cable into the router to no avail.

I understand that the connection on ISP side is is PPPoA 0/38 by default - it advertsies that fact except for 3 ISPs (none are mine) I am BTBroadband

I am accesses via my Mac and to get a session seems clumsy so I will have to use my Linux to examine the interface. Maybe it is set-up wrong from the factory?
