Decent Wireless N Setup

[link to this post]

Hello All,

Wireless networks are back to driving me bonkers again. I live in an old Victorian farmhouse, so getting wireless around is a pain. I can't use cables as the 'rents moan about them. There's nothing else around for miles, so wireless interference is not the issue. All that's now between my DGN2000 Router, troublesome brick that it is, and my D-Link Dongle is one floor, and yet it still can't muster a steady connection. It claims it's connected at 117Meg over N, but it struggles to pump the adsl through at more than 1Meg on a good day. I'm the only wireless device that uses it, bar my phone occasionally to Sync spotify.

So, what do you reccomend? I'm open to suggestions, that router has been nothing but trouble since I bought it so a replacement would be happily purchased. I like my D-Link Dongle, the netgear one it replaced was awful. The router needs to be half decent at holding on a slightly flaky 48db line. I had been told Netgears were best at this, but this one is driving me round the bend, and I quite fancy another D-Link to match the dongle which I'm pleased with.

Any thoughts at all?

Cheers,

I would go for Home Plugs (networking over the mains wiring) and not bother with wireless at all.
