connecting mobile device to router

I have posted this problem elsewhere without success. I cannot connect my Acer F900 ( win mob 6.1) to my Netgear router DG834G. I am not using encription. I tried the MAC list etc. The irony is that I had no problem with my previous device(win mob 5). And I have no problem connecting my laptop to the same router. I can see the neighbours connections but not mine. Contacting Acer or Microsoft is a waste of time.
