The WAP ip address doesn't appear to be on the same network. Looks like your network settings are wrong.

OK thanks for that. I will look into it tomorrow as I'm being summoned by "you know who" wink

Hi, to be able to see the Netgear access point on the network configure as example:

Router IP address: 192.168.15.254

Access point IP address: 192.168.15.227

If you give each the same IP address the access point will vanish from the network, but will still be there and functioning. wink

But they can't change the WAP IP address because they can't get at the configuration page.

The way to get to the access point is to temporarily assign a static IP to the PC in the same subnet as the WAP. So, change PC to the 212 range (keep the first 3 sets of numbers the same and just change the last to something different to the router), set the subnet to 255.255.255.0 and that should hopefully allow the OP to be able to use browser to get to the WAP. Then change the WAP IP as you suggest and set the PC back to dynamic IP. Will then be possible to get to the WAP without all the faffing around in future.

OK Explain this!! Just as an experiment, I switched the WAP from port 1 on the router to 4.

Now the IP Address Assignment is DHCP and the IP Address has changed to one I can access smile Mind you, I had to reset the WAP to defaults as I had forgotten the access codes but I would have had access before the reset had I remembered them crazy

Seems a little strange. Maybe the switching of the ports just triggered a new request for a DHCP address... Difficult to say without doing some testing which seems largely pointless as your issue seems to be solved smile

Strange indeed but thanks to all for the responses.

For the record, when I switched the WAP, it was powered off. If that makes any difference.

Maybe port 1 is configured as the DMZ and 212.*** is your WAN ip address?

Any way of checking that?

You could try plugging a PC/laptop directly into port 1 and see what IP address it picks up.
