The ethernet in my PC is "Gigabit" (10/100/1000) as is ethernet in my NAS. However I have a Netgear DG834GT router and a printer which are 10/100 (wired) along with three other PCs and a couple of SqueezeBoxes which are wireless. I am wondering whether mixing devices on a Gigabit switch would be possible?
What I want to do is plug my NAS and my PC into a Gigabit switch and then connect all my other networked devices into the router (wired and wireless) and only have the one connection between the router and the swtich.
I am hoping this will mean that the PC and NAS will be able to communicate at Gigabit speeds without being impacted by the slower 10/100 devices connected to the router. Am I correct?
