Setting up dynamic DNS service before going to FTTC

[link to this post]

I have a small web and mail server and will be going over to BT Infinity Option 2 next Tuesday. As this is a dynamic IP service I've already got an account from no-ip.com and setup my IPCop firewall to pass my (currently static) IP to the DDNS service.

The hostname provider is Easily and I've setup the MX record to point to my DDNS domain myname.no-ip.com this seems to work fine and I'm getting incoming mail without any problems. However as the ANAME record can only be an IP address and this won't be static, I've had to set a CNAME redirect to myname.no-ip.com and this isn't redirecting web traffic correctly. If I specify a webpage www.mypages.co.uk it cannot be found, but if I use http://mypages.co.uk (without the www) it works fine.

Anyone offer any pointers with this please?

Thanks,
Jason.

You need another CNAME for www as well, or use * as a wildcard.

Just spotted that it won't allow you to edit the domain on the *first* CNAME record, but it will if you create a second record. Now just waiting for the system to update so I can try it out.

Thanks,
Jason.
