Wired up house with CAT6, need keystones now!

Looking for some advise on CAT 6 keystones. I already have the faceplates but they came with CAT5e keystones. The cheapest CAT6 I've found are in scan but not too sure about the quality

I ordered one to test it out. It does fit my faceplates but it is not a tight fit (it shifts from side to side but not backwards and forwards). Also not sure if I should use 90 degree or 180 degree.

Unfortunately, my builder has installed 25mm backboxes which is OK for electrics but too tight for CAT6. We're thinking of getting surface mounts to add another 20mm instead of re drilling. I've been told tht 180 degree keystones are easier to fit in tight spaces.

Any thoughts?

Look at the Excel range - they are always good quality and many professional installers use them. They do a fairly slim version too. I am sure you can get Cat6 keystones which are 16mm - not necc. by excel but I'm sure I've seen them before.

Have a look at teh various Krone ones - excellent quality. Krone - now known as ADC-Krone are owned by Tyco.

The best prices I found for them are from: Anixter http://www.anixter.co.uk/AXECOM/UK.nsf/HomePage?open... maybe not as cheap ... but quality costs.

This module won't fit into the my faceplates. The above krone keystone has the same 180 degree style connectors and I think it should be OK for my faceplates.

Those Krone ones cost about £4.30+VAT+Delivery. The problem is that they don't sell to individuals directly so I can't get them. Any other suggestions? How about these: http://www.tech365.co.uk/products/Draka-%252d-Cat6-U...

They sold to me ! But you are night, not cheap, however quality never is.


Draka are a good brand (part of Prysmian) when it comes to cables and I cannot see them supplying low quality connectors.

I went with the Draka for a few reasons:
1. Cheaper
2. Less hassle
3. Specifies 25mm back boxes.

Tech365 delivered 22 Matrix 90 degree keystones today. However I ordered 22 Draka 180 degree keystones. I've sent them an email. Their phone just rings and there is no message to let you know that they are closed or what their opening hours are.

Two days ago I received a phone call asking me if it is ok to send me white Drakas instead of the black ones I ordered. I told them that it is ok as long as only the colour different.

Very dodgy company. I do not look forward to all the hassle they will cause me...
