Cordless phone - how much effect on wireless network ?

Hi

I have a Panasonic cordless model from 2008.

Base is in filter @ test socket (with router/modem).

At the moment I have no alternative location for it as internal sockets were disconnected to help minimise dropout issues.

Other unit is next to bed upstairs.

Is this likely to seriously adversely affect my wireless network ?

DECT or another form of cordless phone?

Dect phones should be fine and other cordless if UK source I believe are not in the WiFi range. Video Senders can be an issue though, interfering with wifi

I assume DECT (aren't most/all cordless phones DECT nowadays ?), but will check.

DECT base stations must operate within the frequency band 1880 - 1900 MHz.

Some phones do work around the wireless freq's. It should probably say somewhere in the manual what they work on.

Normally however microwaves / wireless tv / bluetooth / and neighbours wireless networks cause more issues.

802.11n is very good at taking out all previous versions of wireless including 802.11g if it is the correct distance away.
