Freak mass network disconnections from the internet.

I'll keep it short. Had DSL problems for an extended period of time. Eventually fixed by BT Openreach by changing the equipment at the exchange attached to my line.
This gave birth to a new problem.

Ever since they replaced that equipment (Jan 17th) every 30 mins or more all the computers on my network including wireless devices are no longer able to see the internet. Although they can still see the router and access it's configuration pages. After 30secs - 1 min things are back to normal.

This happened with the Technicolor TG582n provided by my ISP (Be*) and a Netgear DG834N.

Any clues?

Run a ping command in a cmd window for a couple of hours to see if it works when the PC's can't see the internet:

PING -t bbc.co.uk

Setup a BQM from this site to see if it also works http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping

The router is directly connected to your computer(s), you CAN access it even if you don't have phone line / cable to internet.

I forgot to mention that my DSL connection appears to be unaffected when this happens. I've checked the router statics and there have been no errors or downtime.

Continous ping running since 22:11 today.
When the disconnection happened the pings began timing out.
Then there was a single ping that timed out later.

QCM started at 22:29 today.

Check your router logs (assuming it has logs). They may suggest a problem.

Logs don't show anything related to these disconnections (I've checked twice at the time of the disconnections). Only notable things there are some UDP floods cause by Routerstats and DMT tryign to telnet into it.

As the disconnections are regular have you looked at the router status lights at the time? What do they show?

All the lights are fine when it happens.
