VPN endpoint suggestions

I'm interesting in a VPN endpoint (server) at home. I'm soon to get BT Infinity and wondered what my options are? Depending on the answer to http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/bt/t/4097646-bt-inf... (whether I need to use the Homehub to get FON access) I may or may not be using the BT Homehub. If I don't have to use the Homehub I assume I would instead use a router with VPN endpoint functionality? If I do have to use the Homehub, what options do I have?

Suggestions for decent but cheap kit in either case would be most appreciated!
