BT Home Hub 2 with new ISP

Hi folks,

Someone I know has moved from BT to Sky broaband.

They had a BT Hub Phone (2.1) which they want to continue using.

However, the BT Hub (2.0) won't work with any other ISP as the username and password are rejected when entered into the homehub admin screen.

I was wondering what solutions you could think of to solve this?

Try turning off the NTP client, which gets the date and time from the internet.

I'll try turning off the NTP tomorrow and see how things work out.

Just tried turning off the NTP. I then entered my broadband username ([email protected]) and password which brought this up:

Warning

The broadband username that you've entered is either incorrect or is not supported by your Hub. Please check your username and try again.

The person I'm trying to get this to work for has moved to Sky broadband (LLU) whereas i'm with AOL. Not sure that this is relevant.

Excellent, I was looking for exactly that info as I wanted to ensure the BT interface on the hub wouldn't be lost.

I have two USB drives, so I'll give it a go in the evening.

Turns out as the hub has "U" version firmware (the guide was written for the earlier "J" version) there is currently no way to unlock.

Apparently they are working on it but they've been on it for a few months now so I'm not sure they are going to succeed.

Meanwhile, I'm not understanding why the BT Home Hub phone won't register with a normal DECT cordless phone base since research indicates the hub phones use DECT to connect with the hub.
