wifi.

Anyone care to shed some light?

I have Sky broadband fibre optic. I have two routers from them. Both identical routers and brands. Both on same channel using same WPA2 encryption. Everything seems to be set the same in router config pages.

Anyway router 1) 7 devices connected. One of them kept dropping wifi signal for no reason. Everything else fine. Changing wifi channels did not help nor did a factory reset.

I decided it must be the imac causing the issues as all other 6 devices were fine... The wifi would drop around every 3 minutes.

Switched to router 2) everything worked fine.

Switched back to router 1) problems are back.
Router 2) no issues...

Any ideas why?
The routers had the same encryption type, same wifi channel etc. Everything seemed identical. Makes so little sense to me.

The only differences are the SSID and the network key. The rest is the same.

Can you clarify:
-was it just the connection for one device dropping, or all of them?
-was it the imac connection dropping?

Just the 1 device out of 6
Only the iMac

Interestingly another iMac wasn't dropping

I have seen and heard of similar problems many times and whilst nothing can be fully proven it could well be within the iMac/iPad/i*** and not teh router. As with your changing the router to an identical one, with te same setup works fine.

I have several WAPs here - all 2wire2700 devices with same firmware, encryption code &c and there is one iPad that will not connect to one specific, connects to the others fine and other i***s connect to all.
