Re: STUMPED - WiFi network problems....

I've just tried changing the channel width to 20MHz. It was on auto. I've just been testing a couple of devices for the last 10 minutes - but it looks like the problem is resolved. Will post again in a while once I've done a bit more testing!

Try them all on the same channel.

Often on the same channel. You move around the house, it switches AP much more quickly as you move around....

On different channels, you move around the house. It tries to hang onto the wifi signal until it totally drops. At this stage it will switch to the nearer AP on a different channel.

Don't use channel 12 or 13 as plenty of devices don't see these channels

Yes there is not space in this band for 3x 40MHz channels.

You can have 2x 40MHz but that uses the whole band and and some devices are not fully compatible with access points using 40MHz mode. Or you can have 3x or 4x 20MHz depending on channels chosen. This still assumes you have no neighbours on in-between channels.

I would not be surprised for performance to be affected in some way with 3 or more powerline network devices if the way they share access to the wiring effectively makes the network behave like it is linked via a hub (rather than switched).

However that effect might not be noticed at internet speeds but maybe with high LAN traffic.

So you seem to have solved your problems for now, otherwise I would suggest trying just 2 powerline devices.

I've been busy testing and everything is running very smoothly - none of the connection issues or intermittent connection issues I had been getting. I will sleep better tonight as this has been annoying me all week!!

Three days later, I'm happy to report that all is still working very well and the problem is solved. I'm a very happy and relieved man. Thanks again for everyone's help.
