How many HTTP connections?

Does anyone know a way to determine how many http connections your browser has? I'm trying to find out why my uploads are slow and I have a theory it relates to the number of threads in use.

netstat -a

But its not so much the amount open, but the the bandwidth they use, and unless you have lots of images or a youtube clip being unloaded I would be VERY shocked if your web browser were saturating your upstream bandwith
