Want to ditch the HomeHub

Hi, I'm with BT and I have the vision service. I'd like to ditch the rubbish HomeHub and replace it with something like a cisco router maybe. Would the Vision service still work without the Homehub? The BT technical "help" were vague about this.

Believe it should work, though it has been a while since seeing anyone say whether it works or not
