Future building work in my home may mean that my home network patch panel will need to be permanently moved a metre or so from it's current position. When originally installing the cables I did leave a few metres of excess cable to allow for such contingencies but it's now looking likely that 8 of the 14 cat5e cables will be too short to reach the patch panel once the building work is done and so I was wondering if I could use some of these to extend the length of the cable without affecting network performance?
Also, is there such a thing as a multi-gang punch-down lan cable coupler (which would be less faff and neater)?
Are there any other options for extending a cat5e cable length?
Replacing the too-short cables isn't a realistic option due to cost and hassle.
