ethernet plus wireless

My laptop( win 8) connects to the internet wirelessly. However to ensure better and higher speed I also connects via ethernet. Will there be any broblems ? When I click on the taskbar icon it say it is connected to both ( wired and wirelessly).

No there will be no problems. When both are connected each connection will have its own internal IP address. Windows will use wired in preference and fall back to wireless if you remove the ethernet cable.

If you do have problems with your laptop connecting both wireless and Ethernet to the same network, you could disable wireless by putting it in to "flight mode" or by turning off the Wi-Fi functionality. Most machines may require you to press the Fn and one of the function keys marked with a transmitter symbol; or you may have a button or switch that turns the Wi-Fi on or off.

In general Pipexer is right about it preferring the wired connection.

In Windows the preference order is network adapters - advanced settings (you may need to press ALT to show the menu bar). It usually lists the wired connection first but this is not guaranteed to be the case (when it was first installed).

If you have enabled file / print sharing on the laptop (and this may be automatically on if you chose Private or Home as the type of network or have setup a HomeGroup)
having both wired amd wireless connected to the same network can lead to Windows announcing the computer on the network twice (with duplicate NetBIOS name but 2 different IP addresses).

If the laptop happens to be the newest OS on the network I don't know what will happen when it tries to elect itself as the Master Browser with 2 connections (on a Windows network computers vote on who maintains a list of workgroups, computers and shares and it is designed that the newest version of Windows (or a domain server) wins this election).

In other words computers on the same network browsing for network shares may become a little confused by this but nothing will blow up, and it is more of an issue on larger / work networks.

Other than that it doesn't affect using the internet. There is no speed advantage (it doesn't bond the connections together) so the main advantage being able to stay online when you unplug the wired connection to move around.
