brightbox and netgear n150 wireless connection

I have Orange Bright box as wireless modem/router on the main floor and would like to connect it wirelessly to netgear n150 on the first floor so I can plug my PC and have internet access without pulling the cat5 throught out the house.
Does anyone knows is that possible and how to do it?

what is the netgear N150 ? If it's a USB client gadget then that'll plug into the PC etc.

If it's a wireless router then life is more complicated.

The way for you to use the Netgear 150N wireless router as a wireless access point, is to use two Devolo powerline adapters.

If using Devolos and the like, why bother at all with the WAP? There's only one PC according to the OP so it would be better to dump the N150 altogether.

thanks for your advice. I tried to connect wirelessly my 2 wireless routers last night like it was explained on Tested site but or I am not setting some settings right or my routers are not compatible. The settings on my routers are different then on the Tested site so I may have not ticked or did ticked what I shouldnt have. I know I unticked DHCP for old router which I want to convert to AP for upstairs PC(which doesnt have wireless card so I want to connect it with cat5 to my old router for internet acess). I am not sure should I unticked for old router to broadcast SSID and my new router is on chanel 11, does old one have to be on same channel? Also my new router IP address range is 192.168.1.2 to 254 and gateway is 192.168.1.1 so what should those be on my AP router?

if you're trying to use WDS to connect them they need to be on the same channel and each will need to be told the MAC of the other. IP addresses should be in the same subnet but distinct.

It isn't common for routers to support WDS that works with different manufacturers kit, but you might be lucky.

Step 1 - do both devices support WDS and have a WDS config page ?

The EE/Orange Bright Box router does not have WDS and your Netgear DGN1000 wireless-N 150 does not have WDS, so they will not connect to each other via wireless, only via (wired) Ethernet cable. And you don�t want WDS it halves your LAN network speed.

How to configure your Bright Box wireless router.

Configure EE Bright Box router DHCP server range...

Lease time: Forever
Start IP: 192.168.1.21
End IP: 192.168.1.250
This will give you 25 LAN static IP addresses 1 to 20 and 251 to 255.

Configure Netgear DGN1000 router as the access point on first floor.
Ethernet cable from Bright Box router must be connected to one of the 4 LAN ports.
Important, disable Netgear DGN1000 DHCP server.

Configure PC connected with Ethernet to Netgear DGN1000 access point

Select Use the following IP address.
IP address: 192.168.1.? your PC Ethernet card IP address.
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gatway: 192.168.1.1 Bright box router IP address

Select Use the following DNS server addresses
Preferred DNS server: 193. 36. 79.101
Alternate DNS server: 193.36.79.100

And that�s it now, it should all connect with wired Ethernet cable.

thanks for all your replies. After all I decided to buy Devolo 200 mini as advised since I cant connect 2 of my wireless routers wirelessly.
