I wish to connect a Devolo dLAN® 500 AV Wireless+ (01832) single plug (not from a starter kit) directly to my router. I then wish to take a Devolo dLAN® 500 AVtriple+ Starter kit (01721) & put one plug in my bedroom & one in the living room to connect to the computers in each of those rooms.
UK Devolo has said it will not work because the router must be connected to a specific plug from a starter kit. Tech support in Germany has said that it will work & that I can connect the single wireless plug to the router, & use the 2 starter kit plugs in the other rooms to connect to the computers.
Any devolo Homeplug experts on here want to take a stab at who is correct.
Devolo Single Wireless Plug

Devolo Starter Kit (Non Wireless)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0065V32DU/ref=ox...
The reasons for the weird setup are thus. The wireless starter kit is designed upside down with the wires coming out of the top. This will not work with the plug sockets in my living & bedroom. The only socket which will take the upside down wireless plug without a problem is the one next to the router in the hallway.
P.S For all the pedants who want to interrogate & mock my desired setup & demand a schematic of my wiring & photos of each socket. Or offer 'helpful' alternatives & generally derail the thread. Please don't!!!!!!!!!
I will not enter into a debate on my plug socket positions requests for photos or 'why don't you get an electrician/builder in etc'. I'll simply ignore you.

Ah Batboy, I knew you'd pay me a visit. That thread is completely unconnected to the question being asked. It is about old non wifi models that were completely interchangeable, I know, I currently own the models being discussed in it.

Fine, good luck with getting it to work

Definitely 100% guaranteed? It is going to cost me nearly 200 quid to get this setup. The UK Devolo bloke swore blind it wouldn't work, something about a wifi button. The German Devolo tech support said it would work.
And thank you by the way.

Consider this, why would they sell the AV Wireless + in a box of one, if it did not operate with other AV 500 units?
So as long as you are using it conjunction with 500 AVplus units there should be no problems. Should even pair with the slower 200 Mbps units ("To set up a dLAN network, you need at least two dLAN devices (200 Mbps or 500 Mbps)."
Two ways to pair the 500 AV units
1. the dLAN encryption button Page 19
or
2. The dLAN Cockpit App on Page 23

http://www.devolo.co.uk/consumer/dlan-500-av-wireles... The UK Devolo bloke wasn't saying they wouldn't work together. Just that unlike my old blue 85Mbs Devolos where every plug could act as the Router plug in the 500's the router plug has to be from the starter kit in the wifi setups. I saw the cockpit thing on their website earlier it looks like an updated version of the Devolo configuration wizard we have for the old 85Mbs ones.
It's £184 worth of kit. If it doesn't work I may have to sell the cat into sex slavery.
Thanks again for your input, appreciated.

Urm Devolo home plug devices DO NOT work as a router.
The Triple is just a switch NOT A ROUTER.
Page 35 of their manual shows a situation that is NOT sold in any starter kit.
The Wireless+ is just a 500 AV with the addition of a wireless access point.
I've used various models of Devolo kit over the years so do have some idea, and have the triple+ kit sat unused behind me

Noooooooooo I never said it is a router! I said the 'router plug' i.e the plug that the router connects to rather than the plugs I have in the other rooms that connect to the PC's.
What don't you like about the triple+ kit?
