Connecting routers?

Guys, I have a new Sky router on the way as I need an 'N' rated device apparently, for my Smart TV. My old Sky Netgear router is fine so my question is, if I use my new one upstairs and connect that directly to the network, is it possible to put the old one downstairs and feed wirelessly from the new one so that it can connect to the TV, PS3 and Sky+ HD box?

You need to connect the two routers with a cable.

If you can do that, ensure the (old) sky netgear router has a different IP address to your new one. Disable routing and/or "WAN" on the old router, disable DHCP on the old router, set the wireless settings to exactly the same settings - EXCEPT the wireless channel. Connect them together using Ethernet cable.

If you can't connect them together using cable, you've got a problem, and at that stage would probably be better looking at better solutions etc.

Ahh, it's using cable I was hoping to avoid.

You need it in repeater mode in this case and I highly doubt the netgear will work in that mode. You could buy homeplugs to link them up but by the time you have done that you may as well buy homeplugs with WiFi integrated and do away with the 2nd router totally.
