Logging into router admin settings.

Hi,
I would like to log into a new router that I've had so I can change a few settings ready for a new fibre connection . The old router is still connected and I dont want to replace it with the new one to change settings because people are using the connection.
When I connect the new router to my laptop and type 192.168.1.1 it's obviously picking up the connected main router and not the new one.
Is there a way around this?

Why? You don't need the Net to connect lappy to new router over Ethernet. All others in house will be using old router wirelessly to get to Net

You mean the new router is connected to the laptop over the internet?

The laptop is connected via a wireless connection off the main router and I'm plugging the new router into the Ethernet connection of that laptop.

Managed to sort it. I had to do a factory reset on the router and then the admin screen magically appeared ???
