I am aware that the recommendation is for fixed Cat5e/6 network cabling to be solid core & patch leads to be stranded.
I realize that stranded is necessary for patch leads as they get repeatedly bent which would soon fracture the core in solid core.
But why is solid core considered better for fixed wiring and at what length does patch lead/connector/solid core/connector/patch lead beat a longer patch lead? The solid core alternative seems to have a lot of opportunity for a bad connection etc.
