Surely this would depend largely on what's on the other side of the connection and how quick it is to respond to the ping?
Across 100m of Cat 5, the longest run allowed, the propagation delay is normally between 480 and 530ns so a round trip will use, worst case, 1.06us. The specifications however do allow for 548ns propagation delay, worst case round trip 1.096us.
