Slow downloads - Broadcom wireless adapter on Win 8.1?

Some of the post is probably irrelevant. I�m now inclined to the slow speeds I�m experiencing on one of two Win 8.1 systems is due to the Broadcom 802.11n wireless card. (I have connected with Ethernet- the first time made no difference but the second troubleshooting session did!)

I updated the driver and there was some improvement in throughput�for about 10 minutes! I�m sitting here with Device Manager open, wondering whether to tweak the default settings.

It may be sensible to try the Ethernet test once again just to completely narrow it down to the wireless, as you don't seem 100% sure..

Assuming it is the wireless, the first thing I would do is try changing the wireless channel on the router, followed then by the settings in device manager for the wifi adapter, and then after that try lowering the wireless security on the router (or just removing any security temporarily) to see if that makes any difference.
