Upgrading from Technicolour TG799vn v2 to TG589vac

Hi all


Does anyone know whether the configuration backup file you can export from the TG799vn could be imported to the TG589vac thus saving the hassle of re-doing all the portforwarding/trigger rules when setting up the new box?

The export file is a plaintext (ini) file, so potentially options could be:

1. File is completely compatible

2. Not completely compatible but I could generate a backup of the TG589vac settings and edit in the relevant settings from the TG799vn. If so, the relevant bit seems to be the subsection 'service.ini'...anyone know if it would be safe to copypasta?

I have edited the .ini files of other TG routers, but I would not try and copy a file from one type of box to another.

Thanks Michael. Looks like the GUI on this model (Lime 15.32.6210-1301005?) is completely different to other Technicolour models (MediaGateway) so I can't find an option to import or export configuration anyway.

Also can't find a web manual, which isn't unusual for Thomson routers it seems, but if anyone has seen one, be grateful for a link. Router comes as part of SSE Broadband connection

I actually have a full manual in .PDF format for the tg589vn on my HDD, but I don't recall the address I got it from. I could certainly email it to you if you wanted.

I don't know if that is the exact manual for your 589 model though.

Thanks very much for digging this up. Unfortunately the model number I'm using ('vac' or 'v4') is physically different and uses a different gui.

Theoretically I think it uses much of the linux core as the other Technicolour routers but I don't have the skills to access it via a different gui. (http://www3.technicolor.com/en/hi/minisites/open-sof...)

Hi, what's the specific model number of your Technicolor - Thomson. I search online and find a list of Technicolor - Thomson Manuals User Manuals. Maybe you can find what you need. Hope it can be helpful. Good Luck!
