BT Openreach Modem to Router through Powerline Adapter

Hi all,

I'm fairly certain this will work/can be done but thought I'd check with some experts before spending the money.

At the moment I the Master Socket in my flat coming into the bedroom. I have BTOR Modem and a Wireless Router, would it be possible to Powerline the BTOR to the WAN of the Wireless Router? That way I could easily get the Router out from the bedroom into the living room.

Whilst not ideal it does work.

Some before and after stats might be interesting.

It worked but the speeds were bad.

You can see where I put it in and then took it off.

Any reasons as to why other than old flat and bad wiring?

Hard to say exact cause, they work well for some people and not so well for others.

Did you plug the homeplug directly into the wall socket because they apparently dont like being plugged into extension cables. Being in a flat your sockets are perhaps all on the same ring/fuse/breaker but be worth checking if you can get them plugged into the same one as it saves signal having to traverse the fuse/breaker board. Also worth trying different sockets, I had one socket giving <10Mb throughput and another one just a few metres away giving >40Mbps so worth experimenting.

No extension sockets were in play but there is a general lack of sockets in this flat so I can't switch them out.

Powerline can impact VDSL2, not for everyone so it may this was not helping you.
