Router advice

Hi all.
I hope I've posted this in the correct forum.
My father has just bought a new TV. To connect to the internet wirelessly it uses 802.11 ac.
Unfortunately the router I'm using at the moment doesn't support this type of connection.
If I buy a new router that works for both wireless ac and n connections would I be able to use the same wireless network for both types of connection? Or would I need to use two separate wireless networks?

802.11ac is backwards compatible with 802.11n and 802.11g do the TV should still connect, though as this will be the 2.4 GHz band the scope for congestion and poor speeds is much higher
