Just recently bought a NetGear Nighthawk D7000 router (AC1900).
Automatic set up, but after a few disconnects Ive now realised that (recent disconnects at least) they are occurring when I turn the PC off.
Is there a setting I need to adjust? Also, when it disconnects I have to power cycle the router manually as the interface is via the NetGear router login browser page. I cant seem to find an offline method to access the router settings.
Its Plusnet fibre and Windows 1.

" I cant seem to find an offline method to access the router settings"
Dont understand this...all the routers I've had you can access the settings in the router via any web browser on any device, irrespective of the state of the broadband connection itself.

In your connection settings (it has been a while since Ive looked at a netgear interface but think its under something like basic settings) is the connection mode set to always on? It can be configured in other ways which often results in these sorts of disconnections you describe as it doesnt always work well in modes other than always on.

Set up as per the link in jchaimers reply. When the connection drops, that page says simply Oops something went wrong. You have to reboot the router to get an internet connection back before you can log back into the settings interface. It doesnt come with a manual, just quick start guide and a documentation download link that seems to just hang. Wondered if its Windows 10 thing.

Thanks, Ill have a go at that tomorrow, as everybodys streaming something or other right now.

Thanks but thats how I did set it up. I have noticed that its not keeping logs, and that the log left showing in the window is dated 2003? Doesnt change when I click refresh, apply etc.

It should take it down less than a second if at all
Failing that return device to retailer. Any reason for not using the ISPs kit?

It was an old Thomson Technicolour router requiring the separate OR modem and with pretty terrible WiFi performance in my home unfortunately. So when it packed up I bought an ASUS AC68U. That recently started having DCHP [handshake?] issues and wouldnt connect, so Plusnet advised it was a router fault as their end looked fine.

As well as the auto configuration I would just check the settings are as in this link:

Is your PC conected by WiFi or ethernet? Do the lockups happen when the PC is off?
I'm guessing as it's a recent purchase you have a D7000v2 (on the sticker on the bottom) I have heard a few issues with the v2 (I had a D7000 (v1) which was very stable - not sure what they did to the v2!!):

Obviously make sure you have the latest firmware and you could try a factory reset - I know it takes an age and takes the internet down for everyone though, otherwise can you return?
