Hoping someone can shed a light, family friend has BT FTTP 150/30 and uses the supplied BT Smart Hub 2 (telephone port blanked off on the back)
The original hub was temper-mental after a week or so the hub's WiFi would stop working and need to be factory reset with a pin, we tried various setting changes but it would not come back on unless factory reset was executed,LAN internet access was fine and not affected,
after it stopped working completely for WiFi they requested a new hub from BT and one was sent, a identical smart hub 2 arrived and was installed in the old ones place working fine for a month and then the same issue has come back, a factory reset is what enables the WiFi to work again,
I have said if the WiFi stops working again just straight up ring and request another replacement hub,
Anyone know why this could be happening?
I am just straight up thinking on getting a standard router in place of the BT hub if this happens again if it happens again with the next replacement

No ideas about the problem, however, it is possible with that Hub to save a backup of all the settings and then restore them after a reset which should make things easier if there are passwords and DHCP allocations being stored.

If devices using Ethernet are not affected, then best suggestion might be to turn off the wireless and use your own wireless access point.
Presume you've done the usual improvements of splitting the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and teaching devices about just one of the bands.

Smart Hub 2 doesn't allow you to split bands any more : BT page here

I've had the smart hub 2 for I think about 6 months and have never had to reboot it, not sure why your friend has had 2 hubs with the same problem.

I did think a device might be confusing it but normally a simple reboot would clear the memory whereas they seem to be having to factory reset. Something is really screwing up the router - could be EM interference from something wrecking circuitry.
As an aside I bought a night light for the landing and plugged it in next to a wifi extender (twin wall socket). Within a couple of days the night light broke. Bought another one from a different supplier and different manufacturer. Exactly the same happened. I could only assume that the extended was blowing the circuits in the night light so ended up just turning the lights status lights on on the extended which gave us a good enough night light. Perhaps something is causing problems with the OP router much as my night light was dying.

TBH if it works in the same way the WholeHome discs (that can be bought by anybody), then you shouldn't need to worry if you are on 2.4 or 5 GHz. The device and the WiFi AP will switch from one to the other to keep connectivity. Having fitted a few of these WholeHome systems, it does seem to work.
Doesn't explain what is up with this SmartHub 2 though!

Simple re-boot wouldn't solve the problem as factory reset is always last resort
and it is weird re the hubs going wrong for WiFi as mentioned LAN is unaffected
the distance needed for an extra access point or extenders is pointless,
hallway is the hub center location and the rooms are beside it, bungalow.
i have never experienced this issue before as i do not use the supplied BT hub,
its just odd as another friend of mine has BT Adsl 10Mbps with no issues for years, still using the hub 3 with zero issues yet the modern ones go wrong?
odd.
and for interference I cannot point to anything that would be doing it... surge protector lead that the hub is plugged into along with fttp modem (white)
