Hehe, I thought you probably were. Does anyone actually use a tethered tablet, unless its charging or attached to POS in a coffee shop!!?

Anyhow clearly my err blusterous tone has caused grievous offence to the Big Links Matter movement, I better push off back to the garden and deck chair....anyone got a long Cat5 cable...😂

I've seen some Mac users whom handle 8K video with Thunderbolt connected storage arrays, but I wasn't expecting the iPad Pro to be enabled for such workloads. These are interesting times.

On a serious note, take a brief look at the spec of the M1-powered tablets, they'll have enough graphics grunt to drive an external 6K display apparently. Death of the desktop/notebook has been well exaggerated in the past, but this isn't a bad dinosaur killer attempt from them.

I saw in an Apple video someone editing a movie on the iPad, and running the output to an external monitor. Those 6K XDR screens are seriously expensive.

That depends on your perspective. They are competing against specialist colour calibrated monitors. These monitors are in the region of $20-30k each. So there is a largish market for something better than they have for people who can't afford $20k on a display. There is also a largish market for places that might have one or two of those super expensive monitors so people don't have to fight over access to them, and they could be used just for final production.

TL;DR they are not aimed at you or me.

Agreed, I’ve seen some Eizo and Sony screens in a television production facility (years ago) which the price of made our eyes water.
