Migrating from BT to HeyB - keeping black disks

[link to this post]

Hi,
Just got HeyBroadband Gigabit internet installed, and really impressed with service so far.
I want to stop my BT service but try to keep my BT SH2 (even if I have to pay £50 for it), so I can keep running my black disks.
Anyone successfully kept black wifi disks working after migrating away from BT?
Otherwise, I guess I need to buy some mesh boxes, but those are £££££.
Thanks for any advice.

I'd probably bite the bullet and 'fly my own flag' with a few decent quality mesh AP's if you're unable to get wired-in access point installed (always the gold standard with WiFi).

Ideally you don't want to be having the BT router just hanging around there doing double NAT for for the sake of some access points.

The black disks should be able to work with another ISPs service try connecting them up to the Heybroadband box to check. You will lose the wifi guarantee though.

The disks only work with the BT Smart Hub, and the BT Smart Hub only works on BT internet services.

If it's only £50 to keep everything then you could sell the disks on eBay where they seem to fetch a decent amount to fund a mesh system that isn't tied to any particular ISP.
