FOllowing a large thread I started earlier this year regarding leaving my ISP for Jurassic Fibre, I have now had the 450 Jurassic deal installed. The installation was professional and the speeds ( 450 download and 100 upload via ethernet ) are as advertised.
The one issue I have is that I am unable to access the gateway to the Nokia G 2426 G router provided and the router software. Jurassic Park currently does not permit access full stop; customers cannot even change their password which incidentally is supplied by Jurassic. I was advised that if I did a factory reset, I would no longer receive an internet service and the router would have to returned to its modified condition. The Jurassic phone representative suggested this arrangement was to facilitate better maintenance of my connection and my network, and issues around hardware/device compatibilities and performance could be managed remotely. The representative suggested that Jurassic knows all of my devices and their performance, though reassured me it does not record my web behaviour.
There is no mention of this limitation on the Jurassic website, which the representative acknowledged.
The representative said if I wanted to add a better router, the original supplied Nokia would be remotely configured to become a 'bridge' or modem only.
The first question is, is this normal and acceptable? All of my previous routers I have been able to access its software. Does this have any particular repercussions, or can I accept Jurassic's reassurances that it has no downsides?
Secondly, if I added a second better performing Wifi 6 router, would that router be 'independant' of Jurassic's controlling network protocol, and would I be able to access it's software to make my own modifications and security controls?
Thirdly, what recommendations are there for a competent, fast and robust Wifi 6 router?
Thanks.
