done it, home assistant here we come

Not sure if this is the right place, but it is networking in a way. just ordered a Dell wyse 5060 for £50 for home assistant, I was looking at a Pi, but they are difficult to get or expensive, so a Dell Wyse is supposed to be the next good option.

It has AMD GX-424CC SOC, 4GB RAM 8GB Flash USB 3.0 and Wi-fi, not sure what the Wifi is like, but it only needs to connect to smart home stuff and most of them are 2.4Ghz anyway, I will need to get a Zigbee adaptor. Maybe this will mean I can get rid of some of the hubs I have. I am not sure if it will pick up my smart thermostat as that is a strange one, Passiv living.

So fun time or not soon when it comes.

Well it is here, that did not take long, fantastic condition, you would think it was new.
I had a look to see if it boots up and it does, well as far as it can. So fun time in a couple of days, got some sorting out to do first.

Not sure that the Thinkbroadband forums are the best place to discuss Home Assistant, but good luck with your exploration smile

After several years of procrastination and test installs on RaspberryPies I finally bit the bullet and installed it properly in November on a Proxmox VM in my HP Microserver. During install it found quite a few things on my network that it already knew how to talk to: Google smart speakers, Sony TV, Heatmiser thermostats, Roberts Radio etc. I have manually added my Smartmeter and Unifi Wifi to collect data from them. I bought some smart plugs from Localbytes (those ones particularly as they are easy to re-flash with ESPhome if you want to) and also built a controller/monitor for my heatbank using ESPhome. This last weekend I added a pressure sensor to monitor the level in our rain water tank. Next for some PIR sensors and smart switches to automate the outside lights and perhaps an outside temperature sensor.

Only problem is once you have it you start to find more and more uses wink

Mark Leman

No i doubt think broadband is the right place.

It will be a few days before i will have the chance to muck around it, we will see what it can do.
