Best RJ45 Cat 6 Faceplate/Socket Wall Plate

[link to this post]

Hi, I am looking to fit some RJ45 Cat 6 Faceplate/Socket Wall Plates in my house and I am looking for the best brands. Which are the best brands for you and why you rate them highly? Ideally I want to find a 2-gang 8x RJ45 Cat 6 but so far I have seen 4x ports, not a 8x. Sample one from Amazon UK:

I would chose the MK Euro Data Grid plate - 2 & 4 way available: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MKK0184.html

I prefer teh Krone angle RJ45 - but you can fit any standard size ones.

Excel keystone modules in angled euro adapters, with the euro faceplate from the supplier of the rest of my electrical wiring accessories (usually Hager) so it matches.

It's rubbish in a domestic setting to have the network cables poke straight out from the wall, it either looks messy or they get squashed by furniture. Much prefer angling the jacks, and toolless keystones are much easier to terminate than punching down into modules and having to deal with the curve of the cable inside the box.

I can't see any way of getting the cables for 8x terminations to fit into a standard double gang box so would advise against cramming them in if possible.

I've always used the 100-175 shutter, how does your 100-020 compare?

It pokes out slightly from the faceplate so you have more room behind

Jeez one thing I learned the hard way when I re-cabled my joint is if your 'future proof' with Cat6A decent stuff (hello Commscope I'm looking at you 😂)- its about as flexible (and thick) as RG11 or hardline. Use extra depth back boxes. You will kill yourself trying to get 4 in a regular depth double backbox.

Excel is great for domestic, a decent quality name brand and not too pricey.

When I used to design SCS for living donkey's years ago. (OK the nineties) it was Excel/Mayflex at the value end, then Brand-Rex, Krone, then typically AT&T/Lucent/Avaya at the top of the pricing table.

Some of the (I'm sorry Chinese tat & rubbish) being flogged in fleabay or Amazon shouldn't pass trade standards

I have a Belden Revconnect demo pack which is a great system but I don't fancy paying £7 per socket when it's my own money I'm spending laugh
