Cat 6 Cable Routes

[link to this post]

Good Morning,

Quick question, I need to route some Cat6 internally along a skirting board (can't go under the floor due to the flooring, can't go via the floor upstairs due to Artex), however along part of the route I also need to run a coax cable for my TV Aerial.

Will the two being close to each other cause interference at all?

Thanks in advance.

CJT.

Currently on TalkTalk Fibre 150

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps.

Very unlikely - although there is a small possibility

Ethernet could be upto 5/600MHz and TV is 470MHz upwards. Cat6 is designed to stop cross talk and to an extent external noise, and screened/shielded Cat6 would give an extra layer of protection for both and choose quality in both cases.

In my loft, I have TV/DAB/FM aerial cables coming into a distribution amp/mux and then 6 outputs on coax. On the same backboard I have a small switch, PoE injectors. Some of the cables running Gbit on unshielded Cat5e and Cat6 then run fairly close to the TV CoAx and I do not see any issues.

Hi MHC thanks for the response.

I will give it a go and come back here once it's done.

One day, when cash permits, I will have it run in the walls.
