Multiple connections to a server or shared resource

[link to this post]

i get the Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again, error eveytime i start the computer and try to connect to the NAs, I keep having to use the net stop workstation /y and the net start workstation commands to get things working correctly, very annoying.

Anyone know the reason why this may be happening?

Are you using multiple network interfaces eg WiFi and also a cabled network connection?

You might find:
net use * /d
quicker than having to stop and start the workstation service.

If you use the File Explorer to browse to a share on a windows machine it can connect you to the \\servername\ipc$ hidden share to prompt for the username/password.

If you use the Map Network Drive button, or the command line command to authenticate, you bypass this.
net use X: \\servername\share * /U:username

The above command will map drive X locally to the server\share, and prompt for the password for the user name given in the parameter. If you want to hard code the password you can type it where the asterisk is.
