I'm having FTTP installed soon, but the location of the ONT and router will be temporary for about 12 months as next year I'm having the house renovated.
I could pay to have the ONT relocated after the works are complete (new ceilings and adding a double dormer) but I understand I can have the ONT anywhere and connect an ethernet cable which then goes to the router. I could then go from router to a switch in the centre of the house and then ethernet out to each room (aside from the bathroom!).
Question is, how long can the cable be and what cable do I need? Solid core Cat 6 or a patch lead or a crossover cable?
Want to keep full speed of course!
Many thanks for reading and responses.
