Hello. I have been using a Netgear RAXE500 nighthawk router at home. It is have some major issues so I am going to replace it. Can anybody recommend a good router for home I need it to the have the following:
can handle 50-70 connected devices
Supports gigabit broadband
4 it more whenever ports
Supports Wi-Fi 6

Not required but a bonus would it would be nice to have one that allows you to flash a custom os.

At 50 to 70 devices, I would be looking at a router and a separate wifi solution. If your problems with the existing router don't span both routing and wifi aspects, I would keep it for the function which works and replace the function which doesn't.

For that price you could get a 2nd hand tiny PC e.g. Thinkcentre M73/M93, a dual or quad port NIC, a managed switch and a decent 2nd hand AP or two.

It will offer so much more than any off the shelf consumer router.

How technically competent are you? If you are, then one of these. (specifically, the N305 version)

Stick OPNSense on it (with or without proxmox at your preference) and you'll have a flexible, powerful router with 2.5G capabilities. Will easily support thousands of connected devices without breaking a sweat. Use something else standalone for wifi, but obviously still using this as core router.
