We recently moved from copper to full fibre.
We have a mesh network with two ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) and an ASUS RT-AC5300. One of the ZenWiFi AX (XT8) is connected to the modem.
Our new modem is an Adtran SD611 (GPON ONT).
When we moved to BeFibre we were told that our current router would be compatible (they did not ask for any details on the router), however, the red light is showing on the router and when we got back to BeFibre they replied that "In order to use 3rd party router the settings need to be VLAN tagged 10 and DHCP connection"
I now understand that the ASUS router is not compatible (which is why we get a red light) strangely however I still get an internet connection (all devices connecting with expected (fast) data transfers rates). The only issue is that when I connect to the router it does no think it is online and when you e.g. try an update the firmware it says that it has no internet connection.
I guess I can carry on with the current setup as everything is working, but not ideal as I will not be able to update the router firmware.
Any advice on how to get the router back to a white light? One solution is to get a compatible ASUS router and use my existing routers as part of a mesh, however, is there another solution?
Just to complicate matters, for the first couple of days after connecting the ASUS router to the new modem, the white light was showing, not sure what triggered the move to a red light.
