Please help

I live in a rural area and have EE 4G Unlimited, however we find using multiple devices on this causes lag and isnt enough for our TV/mobiles smart devices, so have also had Fibre 50 Essentials installed.

Is there a device anyone can recomend to 'link' the two services so we can have our smart items phones/laptops alexa etc onto one network?

Perhaps I’m missing some context - but can you not simply use the new Fibre 50 connection as your main internet connection, and leave the 4G connection as a backup (or simply do away with it it’s no longer necessary)?

The latter certainly doesn’t need to be simultaneously active / available, especially if the Fibre 50 service is providing your main (sole?) internet access.

Unless of course you’re thinking of “bonding” the two together, which is a whole other kettle of fish.

All devices are connected to the EE 4G unlimited wifi but as it is only 4G it is not powerful enough for everything. Hence needing Fiber 50 essentials aswell...The Fiber 50 isnt 'super fast' as it is plugged into old technology.

I have spent a long time looking and researching but the more I look the more confusing it is with mesh/bonded devices and load balancing.

I don’t need the internets to be ‘one’. I just need so we can connect all our devices to one network and if the 4g is a bit slow then the iphone will automatically switch to the fiber 50 essentials or vice versa. I suppose this sounds like EE smart hybrid connect. Our previous home had high speed fiber but as we are rural now fibre 50 essentials is the best we can get…hence trying the 4EE unlimited (as it is supposed to be faster).

If that’s not possible we can stick to two networks it just means half the house (Alexa etc) will be connected to fiber 50 and everything else on the 4G network…..and if 4G connection causes devices to lag then we have to manually switch between….i just wondered if there is a more effective way. At first I thought about getting a TPLink mesh device but after researching I’m not sure I can connect both internet connections to a TPLink mesh device.

You want a router that ideally integrates mobile network connectivity with a wired WAN connection - that can load balance between the two - I would look into Teltonika routers, as they offer some very good bang for the buck performance and capabilities for these sorts of scenarios.

Look at something like the Teltonika RUTX50 or the very latest RUTC50 (higher performance WiFi)
